A Little Scare and a Big Reminder

Hows it going team?

Let me tell you, nothing quite rattles you like hearing the word “operation,” even if it’s for something small.

Last week, I had a minor procedure to remove a dysplastic mole, which, to be honest, I had never even heard of before!

Turns out, it’s a type of mole that could potentially turn into something more serious, like cancer. Of course, that’s the word that freaks you out the most when you hear it.

The Build-Up: Stress and Uncertainty

Leading up to the procedure, I’ll admit I was pretty stressed about it. Even though the doctors assured me it was just being taken off to be safe, it’s hard not to let your mind wander to the worst-case scenarios.

The waiting, the what-ifs, and the unknowns all played their part in cranking up the anxiety.

The Procedure: Small, But Nerve-Wracking

Thankfully, the procedure itself was straightforward. Quick and simple—nothing too major. But still, when your scared of needles like me it doens’t help, despite the nurse telling me i shouldn’t mind needles due to all my tattoos… This is my pet peeve!

There’s also something about lying on an operating table that puts life into perspective.

Even when it’s a small thing, it’s hard not to think about how fragile everything can feel when your health is in question.

The Good News: All Seems Well

Now, for the reassuring part.

Everything seems all good! The mole was taken off just to be safe, and it’s being sent off for testing.

But from what the doctors have said, there’s no reason to be too worried.

Still, the whole experience was a reminder of how easily we can take our health for granted,

a reminder of how important it is to stay on top of it.

What I’ve Learned from the Experience

This whole ordeal got me thinking about a few things and how it can apply to everyday life:

  1. Don’t Ignore the Signs: It’s so easy to brush things off or avoid going doing what you want. Normally, we don’t want to “bother” anyone or because we’re scared of what they might find. But acting on things early, even when they seem small, can make all the difernce.
  2. Health is Everything: We get caught up in work, daily stresses, and to-do lists. When your health is on the line, none of that matters. Take care of your health, thats the true wealth in this world.
  3. Stress and Worry Are Natural: It’s OK to feel stressed or anxious, its a natural process. Acknowledge those feelings, but try not to let them consume you, thats where it matters. Take note, take action and let go.
